In their opinion, they were not only the master of the Gulf of Aden, but they also had an aura around them where no one would dare to provoke them. Every time they came out to rob merchant ships, they would simply return if they failed. However, if they succeeded, they would gain money to spend in exchange. Even if they were caught, the other party would usually let them go honestly. This almost invincible aura of theirs made them feel even more and more invincible and undefeatable.

They can kill someone easily. Oceans are scary but the people living in them are much scarier. To be honest, I don't have any ideas what's pirates truly are since I only did read them on a piece of compiled paper with a dusty cover lying at the topmost shelves in our library. But those burning manors, the weeping of the people in the port is enough for me to know that pirates are purely cruel. They didn't care about what will happen to the people and they only think about their greediness and selfishness.
