There was a reason many of the werewolves steered clear of Delphine, choosing other medics to tend to their wounds. She had skin as dark as the night sky, warm from its rich brown tint. There were splotches of white skin around her mouth, left eye, down her neck, and on both arms that she’d once told me was due to a skin condition called Vitiligo. I’d found the two contrasts in colors interesting as a young teen, and Delphine had been more than happy to educate me.

Just a second.” Wrapping the bandage around my chest to make it flatter, I throw on a black tank top matching the colour of my tube, making sure to avoid looking at the discolouration on my stomach and upper thighs. The doctor called it segmental vitiligo, a patchy loss of skin pigmentation and there’s no known cure for it. I hate it.

It is an ability of our body to give the right color to our body. You, you lack melanin, because your hair is light and your skin is also white," he explained to I almost rolled my eyes.

What's going on? "Impossible." The old man says. The man that asked me to prove myself smiles and he nods. "like the color of the moon, dark grey bright and beautiful." He says and I'm taken aback. What? How? My eyes have always been that silver-brown color. Like Nathan's how is it a different color now? I close my eyes and open them. As much as I would like to understand this whole thing right now I want to save my cousin.

A silhouette began taking shape as all of the magic particles began forming together. When the particles began to dim standing in front of them was a woman with pale/tan skin with black spots mixed in, her eyes darker than a moonless night, her pupils a lightning blue and black. Upon seeing her form everyone present lowered themselves even more, making their bodies almost hug the ground as though trying to take cover from gunfire shooting over their heads. Their foreheads not just touching the ground, but smashed into it.

Aiden’ POV The hallway is dark and cold. I run. Footsteps chase me. Their laughter echoes, sharp and cruel. “Where do you think you’re going, Ebonis boy?” one shouted. That word burns. Ebonis. Different. Unwanted. A reminder that I don't belong. Damn, I hate how they make that word sound. My werewolf tribe is born with black skin and natural white hair, which bears a striking resemblance to outcasts in ancient times, blessed by the moon goddess yet despised by people.
