I had been cowering, hiding from myself, for too long.
This was who I truly was, I realised, booting a male vampire so hard in the kneecap that he stumbled towards the floor. I caught him with an upstroke, slamming my fist into his jaw and knocking his head back. His arms wheeled desperately, and I smiled at him before delivering the final, killing blow. I was a creature of death and darkness, walking a fine line between good and evil. I took life from the undeserving, from those who had had their fill and stepped fully into the night.
