It's a riptide I can't escape. I wail because the man I love is gone. He's here now, but it's all a mirage. One I would give everything to sustain for an eternity. My chest hurts as I sob in bellowing cries. I can't hold onto him anymore. I collapse to my knees, heaving and gasping in pain. A pain so profound that it's become a pang no physical injury could ever inflict. I don't know anything that's ever hurt this badly.

Hinn Carlos smirked and walked away. My eyes were hot with tears and I felt the pain like a thorn in my heart as I thought back to the tears my mother had cried in the past when my father left, the way she had turned out, the alcohol she had consumed to take the pain away.
