Raven knelt beside the well, her aura glowing faintly as she extended her hand. The air shimmered as silver meeting black. For a moment, she could almost hear it: faint, whispering voices, feeding off life, off magic.
Her vision blurred. She stumbled backward, gasping.
Malrik caught her arm. “Raven!”
She blinked, her heartbeat hammering. “It’s spreading through the groundwater. If we don’t seal it, it’ll poison everything; the crops, the wards, the fortress.”
