With a sudden burst of sound, Khael shouts and casts a binding so violent the witch’s body contorts, locking her limbs in place. Vastian surges forward and strikes, his weapon cracking against her ribs, dropping her to her knees.
And then Darius steps in.
His sword arcs in one fluid movement, slicing through the last threads of her power. She falls back, body breaking with the weight of finality. But her voice lingers.
“You can kill me,” she hisses, blood coating her lips, “but you will never contain me. No root born of the Hollow can stop the poison. No fruit grown in cursed soil can cleanse it.”
