The message sat there, read but unanswered.
Jax stared at it for a long moment, thumb hovering like he might type something else, then locked the screen and shoved the phone into his pocket.
“Earth to you, Jax Thorne,” one of his buddies, Ryan, said, waving a hand in front of his face. “Haven’t you been listening?”
Jax blinked, forcing himself back to the present. “Sorry, I was just… you know what, never mind.
What were you saying?”
Ryan grinned, leaning against the locker. “We were talking about your taunt and behavior toward Princess Elias. Worked out for him, didn’t it? Kid ate shit on that jump. You got in his head good.”
