Chris POV Three days after Ghost was declared dead, someone tried to burn down a laundromat on the south side of Lawson City. I knew this because Matt told me, which meant he had decided I should know it, which meant it was relevant to my situation in a way he wanted me to understand. Matt Davis did not share information casually. Every piece of intelligence he put in front of me was a deliberate placement — a tile in a picture he was building at a pace I couldn't yet see the full shape of.

I felt the surge—the same one that had killed the Baseline Child—but this time, I didn't push it out. I pulled it in. I used the link to anchor us. I used Jinyan’s fear to ground my power. Together, we acted as a massive surge protector, drawing the Ghost’s energy into Unity until the frequency became too much for the servers to handle.
