I had to think fast. My eyes darted around, searching for a solution. My shifter abilities granted me clarity of vision, allowing me to see even the slightest details in the darkness. Shadows danced along the walls as I glided through the hallway, my movements swift and agile. Spotting a random door on my left, I made a split-second decision. But instead of retreating, he clutched Enzo’s throat with one hand, chanting rapidly. Black chains materialized, slithering like serpents from the ground. Enzo tore away, but the chains were faster. They coiled around his limbs, snapping tight with crushing strength. I held my hand in his direction and imagined my power was a hand ripping through the man's cavity and watched it come to life before my eyes. I grabbed that pulsating organ and ripped it from his chest. I didn't have to call the power back into myself. It was like it had a mind of its own and could sense that its job was done. I stared down at the bloody mass that tried to kill Liam and I used my foot to roll him off Liam's legs.

He tried to suppress me, but I’m stronger than he knows. Tears burned at the corners of my eyes. We don’t have much time. He’s sending people for Edward. Then we must be ready. I looked down at the chain, feeling the burn of silver against my skin. The pain grounded me, it reminded me that I was still alive, still fighting. Slowly, I focused on my breathing, letting the faint spark inside me grow. The air around me trembled. A soft glow flickered from my palm before fading. It wasn’t much, but it was proof that my powers were returning.
