Joel POV Sometimes people get second chances. It is my experience that it is rare and doesn't at all follow the cliches we always hear about getting a do-over. ‘As long as you have breath in your body, you still have time for another chance..’ ‘Every moment of your life is a second chance…’ These are absolutely not true. Second chances take a lot more than just being able to suck in air. They take time and commitment to change. They take willpower and gratitude at the highest level.

And no matter how hard I tried to push the thought away, I couldn’t stop wondering… would it be enough? “God, please. Don’t fail me after giving me a second chance.” I whispered a small prayer to myself before leaving to withdraw the blood needed and hoping for the best.

My mind was alive, but my body couldn’t move; if I had this hope holding on tight to me, then I would have to fight for a second chance.
