The second she noticed the kind of bag I had with me, the kind pregnant women usually carried, she looked shaken.
Her breath hitched. When she finally opened her mouth, her voice trembled. "Raymond, why do you have that bag?"
I instinctively touched the bag slung over my shoulder. "Oh, my wife's pregnant. She's about four months along now."
Her eyes widened in shock. She stumbled back, leaving deep footprints in the snow.
A moment later, her eyes lit up again.
Rushing toward me, she exclaimed in a desperate tone, "This is fine, Raymond! We can get married right now, and I'll have your children. We can start over! I can have a whole bunch of kids with you!"
