"Has she responded?" "Not yet," she said. "She might not. That's all right." Julian looked at her. "Yes," he said quietly. "That's all right." They sat in the library as the afternoon went gold around them and the book spread through the world one reader at a time and the city below moved through its October day entirely itself.
