I was ready to fight for my love. The door to my room creaked open and I saw Viola standing by the post. Her eye widened with a smile with a smile which never got to her eyes. “Elena, sister,” she called with surprise and excitement. “We’ve all been searching for you. Are you alrifh?” She asked as she walked into my room. Her purple eyes flicked from me to the doctor, then back to me. I gave doctor Tancredi a sign to leave, then forced a smile, just like Viola did. “I am fine, Viola. Why’s everyone worried? Aren’t you the Luna now?” I responded, instinctively taking my hands off my stomach.

But Elara tasted the poison beneath every smile. She swept into the hall beside her parents, Kael just behind, her gown of deep green catching the candlelight. Nobles bowed their heads, though their eyes followed her like hawks. Already the whispers had begun: The princess and the Ironfang heir. A match written by politics… or by fate. Her stomach twisted.

“That’s Princess Elena.” My stomach tightened. Elena? The girl in the library? Or maybe it's just a coincidence. My head spun around with questions. The catalogue glowed, and a small violet and grey book descended from the sets of flying books and floated in front of me. "It worked," I said, trying to reach out for it. The moment my fingers graced it, it electrocuted me. I flinched back, falling into Ace's waiting arms. "Great, another problem."
