“Tell them to keep their focus on the tests, not me.” Aaron grinned. “Good luck with that, ma’am.” The first student was already jogging lightly when I entered, tall, muscled, late twenties, probably doing a graduate program. He looked up as soon as he saw me, and the grin that spread across his face was immediate. “Dr. Hayes,” he said, slowing the treadmill. “Finally get to meet the woman everyone keeps talking about.” I set my clipboard on the counter. “Let’s keep the flattery until after the test results come in, Mr…?”

“Don’t.” I wish she could talk to me about it, but we’re in the classroom, and the professor might arrive at any time. But, just as I anticipated, a loud, clearing throat resounds across the classroom. Everyone shuts their mouths, followed by a deadly silence. Our attention gets drawn to the front, where a sophisticated, sexy, and attractive young professor in a black shirt and pants stands by the grand piano. He now has a pair of black-framed glasses on. The most awaited man has finally arrived. “Good morning. I’m Professor Julian Sebastian...”

Mom frowned at the elderly man approaching them. "Who are you?" Uncle Donald's expression changed instantly. His eyes widened in shock. "That's Professor Judas Riche, the chancellor of Oldingham University!" Professor Riche didn't spare him a glance. His eyes were locked on the operating room doors. "I'm not just the chancellor," he said. "I'm also the head of the department he applied to." He paused before adding firmly, "And he will be the last student I personally take under my wing."

I almost smiled at him but I caught myself before I could do that. “As I was saying, before I was interrupted," the man started, staring directly at me, “my ways of teaching are quite different from anything you're used to. I tend to get.. intense, at times. For those who just joined us, my name is Professor Matthews and I would be taking you Advanced Literature. Brace yourselves, guys, because there is no room for slackers in any class of mine.” All through his teaching, I was unable to take my eyes off of him. He had a way of capturing people's attention and he could have had mine all day without any interruption.

He emitted a quiet groan with an exhausted sound to it. “May I help you, Sir?” Dean looked up startled, now realizing his preoccupation blinded him to those around him. “Oh, sorry no. It is just a long day and the position is weighing on me. I need you to contact someone for me. A Professor Gains, I don’t know whether he is still teaching or retired now. I need to speak to him urgently.” The researcher’s words ran through Dean’s head even as he spoke to the mage before him. “Yes, Sir. I’ll start right now.”

I said, trying to convince her and myself too. She looked at me as if checking me out so I diverted my gaze, trying to focus my attention to Professor Esquerra. Prof. Jeremy Esquerra is also a good-looking guy like Prof. Trystan Fortez. Both of them are also good friends. Prof. Esquerra is our school doctor. He smiles often and more approachable than Prof. Fortez but I still find the latter more attractive. I am wondering why Professor Fortez is not yet here.

The lecture hall at Evergreen University buzzed with the low murmur of students settling into their seats for the afternoon session. The air carried the faint scent of old books, coffee, and anticipation. At the front of the room, Dr. Ronan Hale stood like a commanding presence, tall and impeccably dressed in a tailored black button-down shirt and dark trousers that accentuated his powerful frame. At 38, he was the most respected — and feared — literature professor on campus. His salt-and-pepper hair was styled with precision, and his sharp gray eyes scanned the room with quiet, piercing authority.

My breath caught as I typed his name into the search bar: Professor Black. His account was private, but his profile picture…God, that picture was enough to undo me. His face was in profile, strong jawline catching the light. The first two buttons of his shirt undone, revealing just enough of his chest. And there, peeking from the collarbone, black ink twisted into a tattoo.

"I think I just saw a girl in nothing but a man's shirt pass by!" "Unacceptable! She can't have stolen our incredibly hot professor." "Doesn't she look kind of familiar though...?" Professor?! I went utterly rigid when Killian settled in front of the webcam and began to talk. "Good morning. I am Professor Abram. Professor Schultz was temporarily covering my class last week. I will be leading your Honors Biology course this semester."

Isa had persistent trouble staying focused the rest of the week. She couldn't tell if she was dreading the approaching Friday... or anticipating it. The size of the class dwindled significantly. Readings were lengthy, assignments rigorous, but Isa found the subject fascinating. And as intimidating as he was, Professor Ashford was a captivating and charismatic lecturer. He was extremely well-versed and knowledgeable in his field, warranting his many accolades and respect amongst peers. The week flew by, Isa almost forgetting about their post-class encounter on the first day...
