" I promise , I will always protect my baby sister from all- all b-bad people. " His stuttered a bit. His face held the determination to live up to his words and I knew that he would become a great brother. I somewhere knew that both Nick and Ethan were going to be overprotective of my little girl. I didn’t owe him anything. “Hey,” I snapped, straightening my spine, “that’s none of your business. You don’t need to keep track of my academic progress.” I half-expected him to be offended and walk away. Instead, he laughed. Laughed. “Why not?” he said, smirk widening. “You’re Damien’s little sister. That puts me in a position to care about your well-being, doesn’t it?” He leaned in slightly. “Besides, if you end up pregnant by some random boy at your age, that wouldn’t look too great for the Black family. And no matter how much I hate your brother, I wouldn’t want that for him.”

"Well then. How about you head back to school, Grayson? I could take care of your friend." Grayson snorted. "Hilarious. I don't care what you say, Graeme. I'm staying here with her, got it?" Grayson took a step towards his brother with a glare. Grayson was shorter, but not by much. "And keep your hands off her." Graeme raised an eyebrow. "Are you seriously trying to threaten me, little bro? Well guess what?" He ruffled Grayson's hair, who immediately glared harder. "It's not working. I do what I want."

My sister has been appalled since she was a child, and it's no surprise that she made such a decision. "Big Brother..." Lisa widened her eyes. David nodded, compromising. "Big brother listens to her and won't have anything to do with Michael anymore." Seeing her promise, Lisa finally showed a smile on her face. "Thank you." She lowered her head and reached out to hug David. David nodded with satisfaction. She turned around again, reaching out to hug Justin. Second brother stroked her back, then spoke softly. “In the future, if Mark dares to bully me, my second brother will not let go.”

They had abandoned her. The first to go, and the one that hurt the most, was her big brother. Ben. He was her protector, and the one man who has never let her down. From the moment she was born, he promised to love her, and cherish her, and to show her all the good things that life had to offer, while protecting her from all the bad. And for the first sixteen years of her life, Ben had done just that. He protected his baby sister to the best of his abilities. He was there for her, for everything. And until his last breath, he did everything he could to keep that promise he made. And then, just like that, in the blink of an eye, he was gone.
