His face was tight, jaw clenched, brow drawn—not pitying. Angry. But also… something else I couldn’t name.
“You think I pity you?” he asked, voice razor-sharp.
“You saw them,” I hissed. “You saw my back. And now you’re sitting here like you’re sorry for me. I don’t want your guilt or whatever fucking twisted hero complex you have going on.”
Luca stood suddenly, the chair scraping back.
“I’m not sorry for you,” he said, stepping closer. “I’m fucking furious. Furious that someone touched you. Furious that someone hurt you and is still breathing somewhere out there.”
