She started clicking through photos, and Harper immediately leaned over her shoulder, cooing at the pictures.
“Oh my God, look at this one!” Harper cried, shoving the screen toward me. “He’s got one ear that flops down!”
I leaned closer despite myself. The puppy was ridiculous — fluffy and awkward and so stupidly adorable that my heart squeezed a little.
“We could name him something epic,” June said, scrolling down. “Like Hunter.”
“Or Snoopy,” Harper added with a straight face.
I shook my head, laughing. “You two are unbelievable.”
But even as I said it, I felt the warm pull in my chest. The thought of coming home to a dog...of building something that felt solid and real...it was tempting.
