The girl walked in.
She was in a pale pink dress, her hair braided and laced with white ribbons. She looked smaller in daylight, more fragile, like a glass cup on the edge of a table.
“Our guest,” Elder Hama called her.
They introduced her formally, and she bowed, saying everything my mother must’ve drilled into her head.
“She is brave,” one Elder murmured. “And kind, she has the qualities for the Luna,” he turned to me. “The moon goddess is really great, she chose the best person for you.”
