He took a step closer, his eyes locked on mine. I felt like a bird trapped in a cage. I wanted to move toward Ivan, but my legs felt like lead.
"She is beautiful," Nikolai murmured, ignoring Ivan’s raised weapon. "Pale. Like a porcelain doll. Does she know what you are, Ivan? Does she know about the blood on the floors of our childhood home?"
"Silence!" Ivan roared. The sound echoed off the wooden walls, making the windows rattle.
