Astrid absently noticed the other knights doing much the same with their own normally vicious stallions as Zela closely inspected the small mare. “What is its name?” The little Dryad asked, her eyes afire with curiosity. “More importantly, what is it?” Astrid laughed. “She is a horse and her name is Swift.” “Why Swift?” “Because she runs very fast.” “The Elves have similar looking animals. But their ones look a bit different. Your men all have different ‘horse’ too.” Astrid nodded. “I suppose they do.” Zela gave a sudden bright smile, her cheeks dimpling. “I almost forgot. Heartwood says that I am to come with you and aid you in anyway I can. Kalash affects us all.”

Adrian said and the hustle and bustle around me continued. "Little dove. Come with me." Adrian said to me once he reached me and Luzo and Aklan looked at me with wide eyes. I gave them a small smile and walked behind Adrian to the front. Ren, Shea, Tia and Briva were nowhere to be seen, luckily. The biggest horses were gathered here and I admired their beauty. Most horses were pitch black but the biggest one was a light brown one with a thick, dark brown mane and tail. Adrian stood next to it and I gave the horse strokes on his nose while Adrian talked to one of his officers. I kept my gaze away from him.

"It's been far too long, my friend" I picked up a brush and I started brushing Apples. He was an older horse. Storm had named it himself. He was a Hanoverian horse that was black with no other spot in sight. It made her name funny. He was good natured, beautiful and a competitive animal. I liked him well enough even though he lacked the cruelty of an Arabian horse. Apples knew he was a beauty and he carried himself as such. I kept brushing Apples until I heard a sound behind me and turned around.

After finishing up her uniform, she pulled on her leather boots, threw her sword over her shoulder and marched out to the stables. The Court had worked quickly, many horses were already being dorned with blankets of the royal crest. Stablehands worked quickly to ready up horses and send them to the waiting soldiers outside the stables. Aynyra snuck around the back, hoping to not draw attention to herself as she shuffled over to her horse, a beautiful dapple horse, white with small brown spots. Her horses name was Rera, the Lystarian translation for rings. Her father named the horse after the great walls that made up the Kingdom.

Randey slapped his horse’s neck affectionately. He had finished unsaddling the fine mare as he and his companions prepared their camp for the night. Flyta was one of the Grenyaar’s finest horses, and Randey was honored to have been given the privilege of riding her. She snorted happily as he patted her, then he stepped over to join the others at their small fire.
