After fifteen minutes, I arrived at the location—an outdoor eatery.
I settled on the wooden seat, the small umbrella barely providing shade.
“I know a way for us to stop this marriage,” Raphael said.
Almost thoughtfully my spine straightened. “How?” I asked, fast, too fast.
Something light flickered in my chest.
Raphael exhaled, his nostrils twitching. “I get pregnant.”
It felt like there was a glitch. The amount of time I had heard about getting pregnant today felt eerie.
My stomach turned.
Raphael frowned. “Not by you, by someone else,” he retorted.
