I wonder and then my eyes fall on the wall clock which is hanging on the wall in front of me. It's 7:34 PM. I gulp and go inside. The door of the room is still open and I eventually forget about it. I see two bookshelves on the right side of the room. I walk towards them and scan the books. The Silent Patient, The Art Of Dealing With People, Criminal Psychology, Bad Science, The Power Of Your Conscious Mind, Thinking Fast And Slow, Atomic Habits, Rationality, Talking To Strangers, Righteous Mind, The Theory Of Everything.

He must have guessed it. “Yes, my king. If you allow then can I have some books to read? I” I ask the king. I thought a lot about what things can help me to stop my irrational thoughts. Then, it occurred to my mind that books are my best friends. If I have some books to read then I will not be bored and will not think about my past or future. “You know how to read?” The king asks me curiously with his eyebrow raised. The staff don't deserve to be treated poorly, so I plann to stay until she leaves. I pull up the book I've been reading called Thinking in Systems and pick up where I left off. At the receptionist's desk at work, there is a shelf of books available to borrow and I've been working through them one at a time. I don't know who gets to pick what goes there but each book has been impactful.

It was a small gesture of peace… a way to give me options. I let out a long, shaking breath through my nose and sat down. Whatever pull I felt to run was slowly draining away. Was it the baby? I wasn't sure. Okay. Okay. I could do this. I could sit here, listen, and not throw anything else. I could be rational about this. After all, I was a scientist who understood evidence-based decision making. I did not need to throw books. I looked at the two journals on the floor. Okay. I had thrown books, but I was done throwing books.

It was cluttered with books and materials of all sorts. Several opened books were scattered on the computer table, with red marks and notes scrawled across the pages.
