I was gone, letting the darkness swallow me whole. I knew I would come back. She cannot be evil. “Stop saying that,” I growled quietly. “You are letting her angel face fool you.” On the screen, Raven picked up her fork. Her hand still shook a little. I could tell. Out of nowhere, a bone arrow sliced through the air and struck his chest with a sharp hiss. The arrow, upon contact with Jim's blood, glowed a sinister red. His face contorted in pain, and suddenly, his grip failed him as he plummeted from the sky. I dashed forward, my heart racing, and leaped to cover Jim with my body. The Haunts erupted into mocking laughter. "Jim, we've taken apart the bones of the mortal who wanted you dead and crafted them into these arrows. Take one more step and we'll pin you down in front of your own troops!"

Ravenna’s POV My breath puffed out in small clouds as I stepped out of my room. I hurried to the grand library, where I joined Luna Selena’s retinue. Old books with cracked spines lined the walls. Wolf pelts hung above the fireplace. My job was to sort Selena’s letters and present the most important ones to her. I handled each one carefully. Until one letter made me freeze. It came from a rival pack, hinting at a trade dispute.
