“You think five years inside makes it all disappear? Your past will haunt you forever.” Richard’s eyes narrowed slightly, a flicker of irritation crossing his features as his wolf pushed closer to the surface. “She just saved two lives. Everyone here saw it. You don’t get to talk down to her.” Anderson’s gaze shifted again, this time dropping to the badge clipped to Richard’s chest. I saw the exact moment recognition clicked. The air tightened. “Richard Grayson,” he said slowly, each word deliberate and sharp. “Drakoria Inspector, Central District Crime Unit. Number 325649.”

I looked sideways to see th glass window rolled down and it revealed Raphael. I frowned at him. “Get in.” He ordered. Get in ? We're not in his company and I do not have to go take command from him. And besides,I don't know how to face him after what had happened tonight. “It's not easy to get a taxi here.” He pressed on. I ignored him and continued walking. He in turned started driving slowly after me. Serioususly? What is his problem? “ I think you aren't current with the News..if you are, you would know that several cases of rape and murder had occurred lately on this street and the worse part is that..the murders making it impossible to be arrested.”

So using the computer, I opened the list of criminals going down to K and found his name. He was listed for over fifteen offenses in a span of five years which was relatively little to what I expected. They ranged from drug selling to possession of unlicensed firearms and for the least serious - Traffic rule violations. But of course those were from just five years ago. Despite all the others, it shocked me that he hadn't gone down for armed robbery. He seemed like the king. As I stared at the whiter and rougher version of younger Emin

the machine replied The Arbiter put on his helmet and left his quarters, while walking to the hangar he rechecked crime statistics and case files that were still under wraps. As always, Crime had skyrocketed. There were over 30 cases to be handled in the his 20km Grid alone, and he could only respond to 10 at the most but if any of those involved gangs or gunfights that number dropped to four maybe even two . “Good morning Rex, sorry your helmet’s on. I should be calling you H-6 ” his colleague Frank greeted him while he chewed on a hotdog covered in what appeared to be a mayo mustard mixture with bacon bits.

Dane was born and raised in Denver and Jaxon knew the police officer didn't want Denver to become a dead city just because they were at war openly with Famiglia. “Do you have a solution? If the police weren't involved, people would ask what we do, Jaxon. Think of the reputation of law enforcement in this city.” Jason snorted loudly. "I don't forget you guys were a thousand steps behind when dealing with the criminals in this town the first time I took over Red Cage," Jaxon quipped considering the high crime rate in the city before he came to clean things up. "You have to remember, our enemies can silence the law and make it invalid."

Red lights glow against the dark of the night as he turns the car on and signals that he’s entering traffic, I do the same, following him towards his apartment. At the intersection he takes a right instead of a left and I continue to follow him, where are you going sir? When he stops in front of a familiar building and parks outside I watch him as he enters and snap a quick picture on my phone in the event I ever need it. That’s the trouble with being a criminal doing business with other criminals, the lines drawn in the sand by the law don’t necessarily apply anymore. I can’t call the cops and neither can he. Everything has to be handled like the old west, quick draw and quicker thinking.

He stared out the window, the city blurring into streaks of light and shadow, the familiar landscape now tainted with the grim specter of violence. The police station loomed before him, its cold, imposing facade a stark contrast to the warmth of his family home, which now felt like a crime scene. He approached the front desk, his voice barely a whisper as he asked to report a crime.
