My height towering over everyone in the room. His eyes twitched. Just a flicker in his throat, a breath caught. A reminder that no matter how old or clever he was, he still felt fear. Good. I stepped into the full light, letting him see me clearly. Letting him remember what I was. He stood up as well, Darian Morvain not one to be intimidated. We were almost nose to nose, though I still towered over him, Alpha to Vampire Lord. Predator to parasite. My blood burned hotter. My hands didn’t shake. He was the one here asking for something.

Busted. I stared at my phone, suddenly wondering if I had gone too far. He looked… annoyed. Just as I hesitated, a new message popped up from Liam. It was a sticker—a cartoon puppy in a yellow hat, eagerly nodding over a water bowl, and above its head were two bold words: "Mm-hmm!" I froze. A bold thought suddenly struck me— was Liam seriously searching for a cute sticker to send me just now? The very next message confirmed my suspicion.

“Let’s get out of this hellhole.” Kristen helped Carlo lift Bernice. Bernice leaned into Carlo’s arms, too weak to walk on her own. She gritted her teeth, but her eyes stayed on him. Kristen followed close behind as they moved toward the exit. Just before they left the room, Kristen glanced at Bernice and she smirked at her. A quick, satisfied little smile. Kristen’s stomach turned. Behind them, Marcus screamed. “Come back here, Carlo! Come and finish this! You weak coward! You hear me?! I said COME BACK!”

They were warriors from Fire Moon Pack. “WELL?! WHAT THE FUCK IS GOING ON?!” Miles snapped at me. “It’s Fire Moon,” I rasped, feeling Rome’s dread. “It’s Chloe’s ex-pack. There’s something freaky going on.” How did I explain that monster to him? I didn’t have time to explain. Cindy saw us, running right in our direction. That caused the monster to look our way. “That’s him!” Rodger yelled against the racing wind. “That’s Cameron! It has to be!”

That person was Chase! "These monsters are horrifying." Chase looked down and saw a bloody thread run through both the monsters' chests. One of them was a snake-like monster while the other had eagle-like claws. It looked like a Flood Dragon.

Their eyes met, and finally the silence broke between them. "What is it you want to say?" Mark asked gently, his gaze sincere, making Julie swallow hard as she remembered her current situation—single, with her partner in prison. If Liam truly was the perpetrator, then there was no hope for her future with him. The look that Mark had, which was directed at Julie, immediately made the girl forget that she promised Liam to fix everything. "Elizah keeps screaming hysterically whenever she hears or mentions the word 'monsters.' I take it that 'monsters' is plural, meaning more than one person committed this crime against her," Julie said, her voice calmer than before.

“She carries our mark. Our scent was on her first. You stole her from us like some thief in the night.” I took one deliberate step closer. The monster inside me, the ancient, ruthless part of my power, stirred and pushed against my control. Silver fur rippled across my forearms. Claws extended from my fingertips with a faint metallic sound. The triplets’ eyes widened, but they held their ground. Foolish.

That was the sound of starved zombies catching the scent of fresh meat. Heavy footsteps made the ground tremble. Keith spun toward the sound. His blood ran cold. A tide of ordinary zombies was pouring out of the workshop—dozens of them. And at the front of the horde stood a monster nearly three meters tall. Its muscles bulged like stone. They all looked relieved. “You got the answer correct, now what do you seek for,” the monster asked. “We seek for the black crimstone,” Darrell replied. “In between me, it is,” the monster said and began to crumble “Farewell Guardian,” the monster adds and falls down to the ground like pieces of rock, the black crimstone laid on the ground between the pieces of rocks.
