Like it was something worth respecting, worth holding carefully. It made me smile. “Kael,” April said suddenly, her grin mischievous, “why don’t you read for us?” I half expected him to decline. To smirk and shake his head like reading aloud was beneath him. But instead, he nodded. Took the book and cleared his throat.

I buy a book every day but now I have them stockpiled for a whole week or even a month. I have no job and reading has become the only job I employed myself for with no pay. I can read a complete book in a day while other times, I read half of it before sleep overtakes me. Aside from reading, I eat a lot and sleep a lot. I do my exercises indoors now and I watch movies when I am tired of reading or straining my eyes to read. At night, when the light of the apartment has been cut off sometimes, I watch movies on my phone.

Waking it is nearly eight, it is far too early, but already it is a nice day. Grabbing the book from my bag I walk outside, lying back reading by the pool as the sun soaks through my skin. It is perfect, I have missed this, missed just relaxing in a garden. My place doesn’t have a garden, so even on nice days this wasn’t possible. “Oh, you’re already up.” The sound of Damon’s voice behind me. “Yes. I figured I would just have a day doing nothing, reading a book I started nearly a year ago.” I get distracted too easily back home. I watch as the book disappears, sitting up I stare at Damon.
