CHASING MONSTERS
A deep mechanical thrum, distant but unmistakable, slicing through the mountain air.
A chopper.
Abel’s eyes lifted instinctively, even underground.
Hunters.
Jax.
Lucian’s face split into a grin.
“You hear that?” Lucian said softly, reverently. “Everything is coming together now, Della. Fire. Ice. Wolves. Hunters.”
He laughed again, louder this time.
“I need this stone.”
Abel pulled back into deeper shadow as Lucian turned, moving faster now, excitement driving him forward. He didn’t follow immediately. He waited, listening as the sound of the chopper grew louder, closer, the vibration shuddering faintly through the stone.
