The Masquerade mask was Harriet's special mask, a white snake mask with one eye hole on the right side. "Actually, this is my mother's mask," said Harriet quietly. She then smiled and held up another mask box. Harriet showed it to Liam who was still furrowing his brows at her previous words and opened the box. Another white mask appeared in their vision. It was a white wolf mask with golden stripes around its eyes. Harriet smiled proudly showing the mask design. It was the one she ordered yesterday, which turned out to be perfect and ready at just the right time. "This is for me?" Liam asked.

Back then, we had agreed that if we were meeting the next night, we would place an acorn in the tree hollow. "It's you!" I grasped Waylon's hand excitedly. "You… You're the boy with the wooden mask!" My voice was barely audible as I spoke. "But why… Why did you never say anything?" "Because I was a coward back then," Waylon replied. His voice was low, as if the weight of a long-buried secret had finally come crashing down. Waylon was the Alpha's heir to the Nocterra pack. The man asked, and from the crinkles on the sides of his eyes, I could tell he was smiling underneath the black mask. "Because I'll pay you a huge sum of money," I said, hoping I sounded convincing enough, and this would stall him till they noticed my disappearance and began a search party. The man hummed, narrowing his eyes into crinkled lines of scrutiny. He had a look of negotiation in his eyes with both his brows fused into a frown of deep reasoning. He stroked his chin and waved his fingers in the air as if dismissing someone. I dared to glance over my shoulder and saw the black wolves retreating. I purred, my voice laced in sarcasm as I pouted my lips. “Aww... Poor, lonely Enzo.” He scowled, his deep voice cutting through the air. “Wear your damn mask.” I rolled my eyes and held my mask. It had a peacock design, with feathers affixed to the sides. Golden detailing lined the edges, giving it a delicate yet exotic look. I put it on, and it shielded my features, except for my eyes and lips. I turned to look at him. His mask was the design of a wolf, its expression a scowl just like the one he carried permanently on his face. The only covered parts of his face were his forehead and eyelids. His eyes, nose, and mouth were exposed.

She was taken into Lara’s room, which was a masterpiece of construction. “Shall I help you get dressed?” asked Mrs. Rolex. "No, Mammy, I will dress myself up. Thanks.” Replied Ella. Ella knew how to get dressed for a battle, as her father was in the army. She was surprised to find that the werewolves wore the same camouflaged uniform as humans during the war. She wore light-weight body armor that she found in the dressing room, which would protect against bullets, and a soft vest of lightly woven laminated fiber to provide protection against handgun rounds, followed by the camouflaged uniform. Finally, she wore a helmet to protect her head.

The male stood like it was absolutely nothing and he shifted with a terrible scream before he came at her again. “Duck!” Riordan yelled and an axe twacked into the forehead of the beast that nearly got her. Werewolves? Something about the way they moved unnerved her, not like the usual werewolves she fought before in the least. Was the mask a part of them? The damn thing had melded to accommodate their new features, with terrible looking spikes for teeth that would grind bones into dust. “Get a grip. We’re not sightseeing.” Riordan growled as he threw one of them into a tree.

A gasp escaped my lips as the light shone on Nana, seated on a chair in the middle of the large room, her mouth gagged and fear written all over her face. A man, dressed in black and in a black mask stood behind her with a gun to her head. "No!" I whispered as I looked on. "So this is the knight in shining armor?" A voice came from my right and I almost jumped out of surprise. There was another man dressed like the first man, sitting on a chair to my right. "Who are you and what do you want?" I asked angrily. "I just want what is mine." His voice was so calm as he spoke. It was eerily calm, like he had done it numerous times, and taken the lives of some unlucky few.
