Through the haze, he saw Ava standing but not moving. Her eyes were wide, glowing faintly with golden light. “Ava!” he shouted. She didn’t answer. Her lips moved, but the voice that came out wasn’t hers. “Rebirth begins. The mother is the vessel.” Liam’s blood turned cold. “No.” He ran toward her, but Morgan pulled him back. “Don’t touch her! You’ll get fried!”
