"He doesn't know who I am," Victoria whispered, her hands resting against his knee.
"No, he doesn't," Alexander agreed softly.
He raised his hand, his warm palm gently cupping the side of her face. His thumb traced her cheekbone, making her breath catch in her throat.
"You walked out of a grave, destroyed your enemies in forty-eight hours, and didn't shed a single tear," Alexander rasped.
"I shed my tears in another life, Alexander," Victoria said softly. "I don't have any left to waste."
