"Actually," I leaned in a fraction of an inch, a teasing glint in my eyes, "I prefer classic literature. Russian realism, psychological thrillers. Dostoyevsky, Fitzgerald, Hemingway. I like substance."

I ask him. “Well, I have not read the Twisted series, I heard it was really good book to read, that was why I recommended it to you. I can read the books with you, is that cool?” he asks me. I smile, happy that I will have someone to discuss the books with as I finish them, which is every reader’s dream.

My last picnic date with Jason ended up great as you all know. I am currently, sited on the couch, my book held up in my right hand and my hot cocoa coffee in the other. I take a sip of the coffee and kept it on the table. I once said I love reading novels but I will go ahead and say it again. Novels are great but only when it’s not dark romances. I can read any type of novel but not dark romance. Don’t get me wrong but I find dark romance annoying and very boring and sometimes disturbing too. This morning when I went to the library, I took out two novels of which one is a dark romance novel and the other is practically a vampire romance. I love vampire romance novels; by the way. Over the next few weeks, she planned to make up for that. She had sworn off post-apocalyptic stories—they were all starting to feel too much the same—but her best friend had recommended one so she had decided to give it a try. She was glad she had. The book was proving to be a fast-paced read with lots of new and interesting twists. She found it easy to escape into the story, which was exactly what she wanted after the long, difficult semester.

"Well, sometimes I watch T.V. I like, well, love to read. So I do that a lot when I'm alone." "Like what? Romance, crime thrillers?" I shrugged. "Sometimes. I really like the classics. Jane Austen, the Bronte sisters, George Elliot (who was a woman, by the way). I also like the Russians, like Tolstoy and Dostoevsky. 'War and Peace' is amazing." "You've read 'War and Peace'?" "Yeah, twice. It's excellent." I cocked my head. "How about you, what do you like to read?"

"One of my all-time favorite books is 'The Alchemist' by Paulo Coelho. Its themes of destiny, personal legend, and the journey of self-discovery really resonate with me. I also love romance novels." Phoenix raises an eyebrow, intrigued. "That's a classic choice, Star. Coelho's writing is so introspective." Dexter joins the discussion. "For me, I'm a big fan of non-fiction, particularly biographies of historical figures. 'Leonardo da Vinci' by Walter Isaacson is one I recently enjoyed. The depth of da Vinci's genius is truly inspiring." Astrid nods, impressed. "That sounds fascinating, Dexter. Da Vinci's life was truly remarkable."

I look forward to being a well known writer like, Chimamanda Ngozie Adichie, the late legend; Chinua Achebe, Nnedi Okorafor, Wole Soyinka, Colleen Hoover, Ted dekker, Sidney sheldon, Dean Koontz and so many others. I don't think I have ever seen anyone who reads wild like I do. My love for books is out of this world, I just purely love good books, like really really good books with awesome plots. I can't be spotted anywhere without holding a novel. I was about to read one, 'Home coming' by Yaa Gyasi.

Emma said, walking deep into the living room. "Thanks." She walked to a set of shelves on the far side of the room, running her fingers over the spines of his books. A lot of them were classics, novels by Dickens, Voltaire, Dumas, Melville, and Hemingway. She smiled when her fingers ran over the spine of not one, but three copies of Mitchell's Gone with the Wind. There were modern novels, too, including Stephen King and Sidney Sheldon, but they didn't look as well read as some of the others.
