CHAPTER FOURTEEN Ragnar's expression remained stoic, but the undercurrent of concern surged beneath the surface. Two deaths in one night? Strange ones at that. He started to pace about the room as he tried to make sense out of what was happening. Deaths of this magnitude haven't been recorded in his kingdom, never. So Ragnar knew that this wasn't ordinary, however, he didn't want to link it to anything that the old prophetess had told jim. Ryan knew that the topic of the Prophetess seemed to aggravate Ragnar, so he chose his words carefully. "The Prophetess mentioned impending suffering, my Lord. I cannot ignore the possibility that this is connected."

"Yeah, I don't know how I didn't make the connections earlier, my grandma used to tell me a story at bed time and thinking about what you have said it is similar" "Oh ok" Mum started reading aloud to me from the book. "Ragnarok is a battle at the end of the world. It is to be fought between the gods or aesir, lead by Odin the all father, and the dire giants the jotnar and other monsters, led by Loki and surtr. Not only will most of the gods, giants, and monsters die in this battle, but almost everyone in the universe will be destroyed.

“What is she doing here?” I moved quickly toward Caleb before answering. “She can be trusted.” Ragnar looked extremely unconvinced by that. Meanwhile, Caleb brushed dust off his sleeve calmly like he hadn’t just been thrown into a room. “What is wrong with you?” I demanded, glaring at Ragnar. Instead of answering immediately, Ragnar lifted something in his hand. It was a book. My breathing stopped for a second the moment I recognized it. The record book. “You found it?” I whispered. Ragnar’s eyes shifted toward Caleb immediately. “No,” he said coldly. “He had it.”

"How do you even know about the great book?" Sighing, Luca moved towards the back of the cave. Leaning against the rocky wall, he frowned. "After you were infected with the poison, by all rules you should've died..." Gazing at the fire he continued. "The great book had a connection with you, the same way you do with other Dragons. Before the poison could take your life completely, the Great Book sent her last energy to you..." Snapping his gaze back to me, his face hardened. "She has chosen you to have her energy, to live on in her name and help other riders... To be the saviour of the Dragons."

Something real that they wanted to bury in the darkness. The door creaked open. She didn’t need to turn to know who it was. Her body tensed because she could feel him too much. Ragnar’s scent filled the room like smoke after lightning. She felt his presence before his steps echoed across the stone floor. He approached slowly, silently, until he stood behind her. His voice was low. "What are you searching for?" He asked, noticing the sacred book she had opened in her lap. He knew when he was a kid, his father had killed the omega who wrote this book and then proceeded to burn the written pages.

Just as Ragnar was about to uncover the wound I had gotten from saving his life, Nina suddenly shrieked, “Ragny, look! There’s dark magic residue on this lock!” Ragnar dropped me immediately and rushed to her side. I could not help but laugh bitterly. Even in death, I still meant less than Nina. One word from her and she had his full attention. Ragnar examined the lock and instantly confirmed it had traces of dark magic. He suddenly burst out laughing. He laughed so hard his eyes teared up. As he was standing right next to a corpse, his laughter felt eerie. He almost looked insane. The Beta could not help but try to comfort him, saying, “Alpha, please accept my condolences.”

Ragnor engulfed her in a bear hug and ruffled her hair, "Same, kiddo, same." As they peeled off each other, Ragnor moved ahead to open a portal for us. My warriors were the first to cross it and with one parting hug to Ragnor, Adeline followed the suit with Lucas at her side. Before I could jump, I turned around and faced Ragnor, "And about the Book of Spells, I'll give it to you soon." Ragnor dismissed me with a wave of his hand, "Oh, do you really think that I did all this to get my hands on a book?"

We all know he’s not particularly fond of the Lycan Alpha. Another pause, longer this time, and then Ryker’s face hardens. “What the fuck did you just say?” he growls, his voice rising. I lean in, trying to catch more of the conversation, to piece together the puzzle from these fragments of information. “You heard me,” Fenriz’s voice comes through, faint but clear. Ryker’s growl is audible even to me. “I’m currently staring at Ruin and Blight. Why did he say he’s there?”

The two men began dragging her toward a gathering crowd, their faces contorted with murderous intent. "Princess Sophie," Ragnar called out her name, his voice resonating in the air. She was spun around to face him, still held firmly in place by the two men. Ragnar sat above everyone on the patio, his sons flanking him, all eyes fixated on her. Not a hint of mercy was shown, especially not from Ubbe, and Ivar couldn't help but grin broadly. "Why didn't your god protect you?" Ragnar asked, taunting her. "Why did he allow a pagan slave to expose your secrets?" Sophie's eyes followed his gaze, landing on Margrethe, who stood beside Queen Aslaug and Lagertha. Everything suddenly clicked into plac

and I hung up. “You know you can just run away, instead of bringing a war between the Grecos and Carmene,” Rochelle said “ Are you going to join me to find out more about him or argue with me about how to go about this situation all day?” I said I brought out my laptop and we lay on the bed, but my hands danced around my notepad first as I typed my father's name into my list. I have a list of people who have hurt me and I slowly write out my revenge for them and my father just entered the list.
