The pain of it was a physical white–hot agony in my shared chest. The hesitation was all Blade needed. The curse, fed by that fresh, devastating pain, surged back with a vengeance. Her blade flashed and opened his throat in a single sweep and three more followed. “They are not here for you,” she said softly. One ignored the opening at my side and drove toward her instead. Their spacing was wrong and they were drawing me away. Another lunged but Nyxara turned to meet him, and the mark along her collarbone flared beneath torn fabric. The rogue saw it and his blade faltered for a breath, confusion crossing his face. He corrected his aim and I stepped into the strike. Steel entered below my ribs and I caught his wrist before he could withdraw and drove my blade through his throat. He collapsed against me before sliding to the forest floor.

The moment the surge hits, I run. I don’t think. I don’t breathe, I move. Branches whip against my arms as I tear through the woods, Dad right behind me. The bond is a live wire under my skin, burning, frantic, pulling me toward Raven with a force that borders on pain. She’s scared. She’s overwhelmed. She’s losing control. And something else is there too, something dark, watching her. We break through the tree line just in time to see a hooded figure at the edge of the market. Tall. Still. Face hidden. It turns its head toward Raven’s booth… then vanishes between the trees like smoke.

I said in a dangerous yet calm manner, "Tell me about those Rogues and Vampires, Randy." He gulps loudly, "I-I don't know what you're talking about." I laugh and drag my knife dangerously near his throat. "Do you honestly believe that I'll buy that? Look," I pull away the knife from him, but I trace it and drag it up to his cheek, blood coming out. It won't heal any sooner because the blade was silver, as you know. As I looked at him evilly, I said, "Spill if you want to see the redhead again or Robert was that his name is." Asked playfully

The man's daughter, tiptoed as he bent over for her to reach Axe, her small fingers reaching out to touch Axe's bruised arm, whispered, "It's okay, mister. Papa will take care of you." ‘I came here to find a kid to raise into an indomitable bodyguard that will be loyal to you for life, and yet you chose such a weakling and useless thing?’ Chairman Blade thought, staring down at Axe and then at the worried way his daughter glanced at him, her tiny hand holding onto hid dirty ones as tears trickled down her peachy cheeks.

The blade glowed with a lethal light, charged with our combined power. Rider Storm’s eyes widened as we approached, the realization of his impending doom dawning on him. “No!” he roared, but it was too late. With a swift, powerful strike, I plunged the blade into his heart. A blinding light erupted from the wound, and Rider Storm let out a final, anguished scream before crumbling to the ground. The silence that followed was deafening. The rogues, sensing their leader’s defeat, scattered into the night. We stood amidst the ruins of the battlefield, panting and bloodied but victorious.

Her hand struck first, claws flashing but I ducked. Just barely. Pain kissed my cheek. Her nails had grazed me, drawing blood. My skin stung, but I didn’t flinch. I met her eyes and she didn’t like that. Then Leena came at me from the side. I sidestepped her, but Derek was already rushing forward, swinging. I threw my arms up to block—

He retained his hold on his own blade, but he could only lift it to try to deflect the blow. Unfortunately, his instinct was nearly his undoing, for in his pain and concern for Keyla, he had forgotten the nature of the new Goblin swords. His borrowed Khortaal shattered when the Goblin’s blade collided with it. The force of the creature’s blow was lessened, but the blade still cut into Randey’s breast plate, causing a shallow cut in the flesh beneath. Randey wanted to grab his Khor, but was unable to reach the dagger as the Goblin prepared to swing once more. Nor could he reach the Styrha blade on the other side. When his foe lifted its blade high, he flinched, anticipating the worst.

Blade removes his new Royal jacket and his shirt allowing everyone to see as Luther ripples under his skin, lengthening his claws and canines to lean forward and let out a challenging roar. Hunter and Cole return and accept the challenge presented before them. Blade and Luther move in to attack sending a punch toward Nathaniel’s jaw. Nathaniel dodges it easily before returning one of his own, Blade ducks just in time sending another punch toward Nathaniel’s abdomen connecting briefly making Hunter growl low.
