No reason at all. Yet, as I filled in my information and pressed submit, the response came instantly. “Your application has been declined. You do not meet the eligibility criteria.” I frowned. That had to be a mistake. I double-checked my details, ensured every box was ticked, and tried again. “Application rejected. You are ineligible for a visa at this time.” A slow frustration crept into my chest. I met all the requirements. I had the necessary funds, the valid passport, and even the sponsorship letter. So why was it rejecting me? Was I blacklisted? Has someone put a restriction on my name? I was totally confused.

“But... I’ve been here all day.” “I’m sorry, but the decisions have already been made,” Right, the decision not to recruit me. “You were late to register, and we have to follow our process. Although you have an interesting profile, it's a pity we have to let you go. Who knows, if there's a need for your talent, we can reach out to you. But for now, we can't accept you.” That was it. No interview. No discussion. They just dismissed me.
