Gabriel kissed me back and squeezed me tighter to his body. “I’m sorry, my love.” He whispered. “All you have to do is say I, and your name, reject you, Gabriel Tomas Nielsen, as my mate. It won’t cause you any pain to initiate the rejection, and I really don’t want you to suffer. You might feel some pain when I accept it, but it won’t be as strong.”

Mia's POV: "Are you sure you want to learn this?" Mr. Andrew asked, a look of disbelief crossing his features while we were still in the car. "Yes. Please teach me how the rejection works. I need to be prepared before that time comes," I said, my voice softer, and he nodded. "Alright. If you want to reject your mate, you have to say the words correctly and include your name. For instance, when Elora rejected me, she said, 'I, Elora Jackson, reject you, Andrew Leonard, as my mate.'"

Nothing, nada, every time I tried something new it came back with a rejection and funny enough I still tried, hoping that one day I'll find what's meant to be mine. Zo once told me that rejection didn't mean I was bad, it was just a redirection but I kept waiting, Oh God knows how much I waited and I never got redirected, how bad must I had been in my past life that nothing seemed to work out for me. I wasn't even brain smart enough, I didn't have a good job and if I applied to work with or for anyone, it was always a rejection.

~Tamara~ I sighed as I stared at my phone, reading the rejection message repeatedly. It was a message from all the companies I had applied to and short and direct rejections. “Miss Tamara, sorry, we are not hiring, but when we do, we will contact you.”

Two weeks passed like a blur, anxiety crippled Pamala. There were no other letters or threat. Whoever it was must have been bluffing, it was a silly trick. She didn't dwell too much on it. She was anxious about stepping outside, now the news of her Rejection had spread like wildfire she didn't want to people people throwing her looks of mockery or pity anywhere she went to, so she didn't go out at all. But it would be good to find a job and support her parents now that her hope for a mate was crushed. It was hard living, she felt like a shell. It hadn't gotten better but she was learning to cope with the pain.

When he thought I was his, but that I wasn't good enough. I don't know what came over me. Usually, I can keep my cool, but tonight, my sassy mouth takes over. I couldn't help it. Ring. Ring. It was my phone again I looked at the screen it was Micheal. I had unblocked his number this morning. I had decided it was time that I gone end this once and for all. I was never gonna let another man hurt me again. I hit decline. Talking to him was gone happen later today. I'll give him a call after I ended my work day. I pulled up to the bakery and looked at my name on the sign. It always gave me a sense of pride, I was extremely proud of myself.

"I've been looking for you." Ethan didn't answer quickly. He needed to chose his words carefully, to let Gabriel comprehend the extent of his anguish. "Gabriel," he continued, his voice firm, "what you did, the way you rejected me, it hurt more than I can ever express." Gabriel gulped hard, his shoulders dropping. "I know, and I'm very sorry, Ethan. I was an idiot. I let my ego and arrogance blind me." Ethan's eyes never wavered. "I need to know, Gabriel, why did you reject me? Why did you imply I wasn't good enough for you?"
