I said as I sat down across from him. He chuckled, unbothered. "I’m just impressed you’re here on your own." He turned to his computer, typing something in. "So, what triggered your memories?" "What?" I blinked. He sighed like I was already exhausting him. "The last time you were here, you begged me to help you forget. You wanted out of your own head. People don’t start remembering without a trigger. Something opened the door. What was it? When did they start coming back?"

His gaze was as deep and unreadable as ever as he softly asked, "Are you happy now?" I thought about it before offering a faint smile and replying confidently, "Yes. Very happy." He frowned and asked again after gathering some hope, "If I give you the antidote again, would you take it?" I shook my head without hesitation. "Even if I get my memories back, I'd still leave you." I'd never make the same mistake twice. He froze and was stunned into silence. Our eyes met and were filled with all things left unsaid. And after several seconds, he finally broke into a soft, resigned smile.

“Liam is in the past. You don’t need to remember him. You don’t need to remember anything. Not yet.” Her eyes met mine, and for a moment, I saw the flicker of realization.
