Chapter 13. Darren's POV. I was pissed that I got interrupted by my nephew, and it was for a matter I didn't want to talk about and wasn't ready yet. They all wanted to talk about Laura, and her status as a rogue, the rules I made years ago, came hit me in the gut, I remembered saying there would be no exemption of any kind when dealing with rogues, yet I had a rogue mate and word passed around that I've been keeping a rogue without doing anything.

The words tore out of my throat like a storm I’d kept bottled up for years. “The reason… the reason for all of this,” I began, my voice cracking, but I forced it out, “is because I’m a renegade wolf, Roland. An exile.”

The underground circuit was alive tonight—rubber burning against concrete as the crowd buzzed with anticipation. I pulled up on shadowfang, my custom matte—black ducati panigale v4 with red accents. Crimson underglow lit the street beneath it, red rims spinning like fire. A wolf fang etched near the tank, and a nitrous boost sat hidden under the seat. This bike was tailored for one thing— Dominance. I climbed my bike, pulling off my helmet— the chill of the night slammed in on my face as I shook my hair. My eyes swept across the circuit. This place was like a second haven but I didn't come for fans of fame. I always came for the rush.

“Seriously. Your whole damn family is there. Kaia’s the only one who isn’t, and if I had to guess, they’re going to need backup at that portal to Valhalla. I say we all go.” I wait for the punchline. There isn’t one. “You’re serious?” Reika squares her shoulders. “We’re some of the strongest warriors in the pack. The only reason we’re not Elite is because we won’t serve under anyone but you. We should’ve been on that mission. The fact that we weren’t? It’s bullshit.” I stare at her. She doesn’t flinch. “Tomas will heal faster with you there. And they might need more help than they think.”

The werewolf came, its feet hitting the ground mercilessly as its hands had joined in its movement. It broke out from the woods, tearing off the leaves of the trees with less effort, and growling at the sight of the man. “You can't take anyone from my family.!” Mark grinned as he shifted under the bright moonlight. His bones cracked, his skin stretched beyond its limits, tearing to become as tough as that of a wolf. He growled at the phantom, just as the phantom growled at him. Like two behemoths, they collided, and the green grasses on the ground fell a victim of their battle.
