The manager was taken aback by the newcomer's audacity to talk back and grew even angrier. "Don't you know you're supposed to arrive five minutes early? It's basic professionalism."

She had just cheated some men off their money in a game, and as usual, underestimating the power of a young woman, they were too stupid to notice that she cheated. She was interrupted from her happy thought by a vibration then chime that came from her phone. With a sigh, she pulled it out, it was probably the guys worrying over her as usual. They acted all tough because of how big they were but deep down, they were just cuddly bears, she giggled at that thought.

Come on, I will help you up.” Vanilla went in search of a stick and forced it into Conor's hand, then she wrapped his hand around her neck and helped him up despite his protest and grunts of pain. Instead, his chest heaves once, forcing the suffocating wave of betrayal back into his gut. He taps the recording rune, saving the clear, crystalized voices onto the spell-glass, and slips the glowing stone deep into his leather tunic. He turns around and walks back down the stone corridor in total silence.
