He and his owner, Troy—they’d come in for years. Jethro was part of the family there.”

Apologizing was usually not Jack's speed but he was quickly learning that if you wanted to live with a woman you had to know how to apologize and he was quickly mastering the art, even though he didn't mean it sometimes. Jack was thoroughly relieved when he heard the final click of the door as Jess left the house. He was happy to be alone, that way, you didn't have to worry about upsetting anybody with his foul mood. He settled back into the couch to enjoy his whiskey but his relief was short-lived as the doorbell rang almost immediately. That can't be Jess, he thought to himself. She knew the combination to unlock the door, there was no way she was ringing the doorbell after she was gone on

Stepping through the back door, he found himself stepping over dog toys. Jack would have left his dog there while he was doing the home inspection. Oddly, Willow really took to the scruffy creature. She was a cat person and suddenly discovered that dogs were also nice. So much so, she now had a foster dog who might as well be her rescue at this point. She no longer even said foster dog – Rutger was simply her dog. The chocolate lab and pit bull mix ran down the hall with the hairy beast that Jack simply called his dog right on his heels. Jacks dog was a little plumper than the last time he saw her.

But Alpha Lucas refused to grant Teddy bail. "How can I be alright, Waylon? My wolf wants Charlotte and has been angry with me because I refused to see her and speak with her.
