The Temporary Husband
Before gently holding his head, his hair still damp, I bring his head to my shoulder.
If he was awake, he would never have let me do this, not if we didn’t have to perform for an audience.
However, this is a state of emergency, his neck will hurt if I let it go on like this.
But I can’t lie and say this isn’t nice.
It is.
The wind also feels nice, for the first time in a while, I find that nothing else matters, just us, in this moment. It’s been years since I’ve felt my shoulders relax completely, mostly for Izzy’s benefit, so he doesn’t feel the knots in them.
