TERMS OF THE HEART
Damien found me afterwards, slow dancing awkwardly among the string lights, his hand settled at my waist as we swayed to music neither of us was particularly good at following.
"Happy?" he murmured against my hair.
"Impossibly," I said, and meant every syllable of it.
We stayed until the very end of the reception, long after most of the guests had drifted home, watching Priya and Daniel share their final dance under string lights that had begun to dim, the whole small, imperfect, joyful scene a world away from the manicured perfection of my own wedding.
