Her hips were practically perfect, fitting her tall slim figure. She adjusted her shirt properly, and cleared her throat a little trying not to stare at anyone. For hell sake, it was Valentine's day and Sam was being a jerk, how could he not even care when it was also her birthday. Valerie sighed when she looked at the glass of wine. Just one more sip from it, and that would be all. She decided to take just another glass and then leave if he still doesn't show up. Taking the last sip of her wine, Valerie poured a little more quantity inside the glass and dropped the bottle on the table.

I warn myself not to do this every darn day, but I still do and end up walking into someone - and today is no different. The chest I bump into feels like solid rock and when I nearly keel over backward, an arm gets slipped around my waist and I slam right into that chest. “Gotcha,” came the silky purr of Valentine. He’s wearing a wide grin on his face and those green eyes sparkle as if they were gemstones. I should be used to the color since it’s similar to my own, but there’s just something about his eyes…. “Oh! Uhm… thank you,” I stutter and try to wiggle out of his hold, but he doesn’t budge. Instead, his smile falters a bit, and his bows crinkle into a small frown.

We’d already picked our battles. “Mia anima,” I whispered, smiling into his chest. “Happy Valentine’s.” He kissed my hair, thumb tracing slow, lazy circles at my hip. “Happy Valentine’s, átawit.” No shutdown. Just us.

He looks up as I approach, his lips curling into a sneer. “Come to gloat, Alpha?” he says, his voice hoarse. “Or perhaps you’re here to thank me for getting rid of your precious mate. Now the name of Raelynn runs across my mind and another surge of anger flows through my veins, causing my fists to clench more tightly around the bars, whiten my knuckles. “You have no idea what you’ve done, Valentine, I growl, my voice low and dangerous. Just take and demolish huh, no repercussions. You think you’re above everyone else?”

"Well, looks can be deceptive, they say." Valentine's lips trembled with anger. "How could you say that to me!" There was a knock on the door, announcing the cleaner. "Hold on." Ryan called towards the door, his intense gaze on Valentine's face. "You disgust me, Valentine. Not in a million years would I ever imagine you would get down so cheaply with someone else." A sharp slap landed on Ryan's face, cutting him short. He touched his itching cheek and a smirk played at the corner of his face.
