The twin blade glittered beautifully in the light. Rick was a ticking time bomb and it was best to be prepared. I lifted the crescent shaped blades up and inspected them. Their edges looked really sharp and they were light in my hands. I wasn't joking about wanting to peel off his flesh strip by strip but that could wait, at least until he makes his move. Silver is really pretty.

He staggered, cursing, blood already seeping from the corner of his mouth. “You motherfucker,” he spat, wiping it away. I rolled my shoulders, eyes locked on him. “Still standing? I’ll fix that.” Michael smirked again. Wrong move. He lunged. I was ready. I ducked, driving my knee into his gut, then swung my elbow into his back as he doubled over. He grunted, stumbling, but recovered too fast. A glint of metal flashed in his hand. Shit. A hidden blade of course. I felt it's sharp edge piercing my skin before I saw it. A white-hot sting across my ribs, followed by the slow, sticky warmth of blood.

I raised my arm, aimed, and let the blade fly. Thunk. The knife hit the tree, but not even close to the bullseye. Again. I exhaled sharply, biting back the urge to scream. "I’m never going to get this," I muttered under my breath, my shoulders slumping in defeat. Nasir stepped closer, his expression unreadable. His rough features, a testament to a life of hardship and battles fought, didn’t soften, but there was no anger in his gaze. He reached out, plucking the knife from the tree as if it were the easiest thing in the world, and handed it back to me.

Blood pooled below him as he tried to save himself in a futile attempt. Grayson drew his hand back, but grunted as a knife was thrown, piercing the right side of his mid abdomen. Grayson knew immediately it wasn't just any knife, nor was it clean. He felt the burn of silver, and a foreign substance coursing through his body at an alarming rate. He looked up and saw the Commander drawing his hand back with another knife that never left his hand. Xavier tackled him and ripped his head off before he ever had a chance to throw the second blade.

Dominic- As soon as I saw the flash of metal, I reacted. Lurching forward, I pushed past Agent Leo. I didn’t care about anything other than preventing Lexus from harming Hayden. Putting myself between Hayden and Lexus, I grabbed the blade of the knife with my hand. “It is over. You have lost.” I ignored the pain of my palm being cut open as I kept a firm grip on the blade. With my free hand, I removed my mask. Lexus released the knife and stepped back right into Agent Leo’s hands. Dropping the knife, I wrapped the mask around my injured hand. As Leo tried to cuff Lexus, I turned around and pulled Hayden in my arms.

She shook her left sleeve, revealing another hidden blade, and then pounced forward. The two blades were attacking as one. It was truly a terrifying sight. Lebron kept moving forward, pulling the triggers of his firearms in extremely close quarters. Bang, bang, bang! Rachel’s expression changed once more as the bullets knocked her back. Even though she could barely block them, the force forced her to sway left and right. Harvey crossed his arms nonchalantly as he watched Rachel fight, not even worried that Rachel would lose. His seemingly uncaring appearance infuriated Brennan.

“Get your blades.” I already had mine, hidden beneath the skirt of my dress, strapped to my outer thighs. I saw Grady and Brent in the corner, mouths wide because they had figured out what I had intended. “Grady, Brent would you be so kind as to lend these men your weapons?” The two men stepped forward and tossed their daggers in front of the two men, offering them looks of condemnation before they turned away. My muscles tightened in anticipation, ready to act as soon as the men picked up their borrowed blades.

Black Blade could not help but suck in a breath. Nevaeh's words meant the tracker was no slouch—had to be top-tier. He was dead sure they were not from the Shadow Sect. Knowing them as he did, no one but the Five Blades could match that level of badassery.

But Blade’s grin didn’t hide the gravity in his eyes. He twisted the throttle, the machine roaring like a beast waking from hibernation. Gray pulled up behind them, knife already tucked into his belt, silent as always. Knox checked his rifle, nodded once, then mounted up with Blade’s crew. The plan was in motion.
