My sister followed, drying the plates and arranging them neatly in the cabinets. “I didn’t know you could help with the dishes,” I said with a smile. “I wash sometimes,” she replied cheerfully. “But sometimes Mum says, ‘Go and read — I’ve got this.’” After breakfast, I was ready to return to Mombasa. But this time, I didn’t want to go alone. I asked Mother if I could take my sister, Kate, with me. She didn’t object. Kate was thrilled. She packed a few dresses, sandals, and her storybooks quickly, then hurried to the car before anyone could change their mind. She settled into the passenger seat, legs swinging, eyes bright with anticipation.

When I reached closer for a look, Joey flinched and almost fell off her chair. She clutched her neck, frowning at me with impatience. "It's nothing. Mind your own business! I'm going now!" I smiled as I watched her basically fled, almost tripping over the doorway. I hoped that my dear sister would find out what was wrong soon.

Eventually Cora and I retire with the baby to the bedroom where Sinclair suggests I might not feel the movement of the RV as much. My emotions were in turmoil, a storm of confusion, hurt, and anger raging within me. I couldn't wait to see my sister and unburden myself of the secrets that weighed heavily on my heart. I knew she would listen, take the advice I would offer her and then, together, we could find a way to move forward amidst the chaos that Thomas was inflicting. I was truly worried about her, no doubt. Finally, I got to the bus stop and stepped off the bus and began walking towards Thelma's school. As I approached the gate, I spotted her waiting for me, a concerned expression on her face.

Mom said quietly as they got into the ambulance. "Your sister killed your other fine sister?" I heard someone ask. "She's not my sister, not anymore!" That was the beginning of my nightmare. Red only snickered and let her sister drag her into the backseat of their car. "Wear your seatbelt ladies!" their mother reminded before heating the car's engine. "Where are we going by the way?" Red asked her sister Blue who was busy looking out the view at the window. "We're meeting up a friend" she nodded at what their mother said. "Hey, look at it" Blue nudged her sister who was just closing her eyes the whole ride. Red opened her eyes lazily and looked in the direction that Blue was pointing at. "Such nice scenery, I wanna go to a beach some time. I want to experience it" Blue mumbled to herself. Red raised a brow and glanced at her sister.

Ben and Raven threw themselves at the other two, leaving just me and whoever was in the back seat of that truck with my sister. I had thought there had been five of them, though, which meant there had to still be two Parkers in the truck. My wolves held off the thugs, and I moved to the back of the truck. The door was locked, but I got it open anyway, using my magic. The truck was so old, it had the kind of locks you press down.I swung the door open to see one of the Parker boys, the one from the bathroom, laying on top of my sister. She was face down on the back seat of the truck and lifted her head enough to say my name before he pressed back down on her.

Jamie suggested, winking at me. “Nice idea, Jamie.” Smirking, we did a high-five as I took their picture. “Come on. Let them sleep. You go to school.” I called when it was almost time for the school bus to come. “But, I want to show my classmates my sister.” He whined, wanting to take Dahlia along. “She is not a thing, baby. Come.” I chuckled, taking him with me. “Aw…” He frowned as we left and waited for the bus.

I’m capable of murder, and if she kept skipping around in the room I might actually punch her in the face. We were ready to go, already inside the bus that was filled with my annoying classmates, when Clarissa and Jessica walked in the bus. Everybody went silent, if a leaf fell 60 miles from us, it could actually be heard. Clarissa’s face was not the same, she was thinner, as if she hasn’t eaten the whole week, and dark circles on her eyes as if she hasn’t been asleep for that long as well. Jessica had a puffy face, from crying. They just sat together, her seats behind Sister Ophelia and Sister Margaret’s seats, not saying a word, and five minutes later, as if nothing has happened, the chatt
