Her lips didn’t move, but Aria felt the words in her bones. Awaken. Her eyes snapped open. She was no longer just cold and hurt. She was burning from the inside out. “What’s happening to me?” she gasped, clutching her chest. Her fingertips glowed faintly, just like in the vision. Her heartbeat slowed, steadied. Her breathing calmed. The pain dulled. She pushed herself upright. The forest looked different now brighter, sharper. She could hear everything. The rustle of a fox in the brush. The flap of an owl’s wings. The far-off snarl of a rogue wolf.

She was discovered in a deadly state eighteen years ago, her body covered in blood as if she had been attacked. Even after her life was no longer in danger, the girl never awoke, but no one gave up hope because they believed she would. Her life crystal was still shining brightly, indicating that she still had life in her. She was probably fighting a psychological battle, and when she was done, she would wake up. Every day, the woman will be wiped clean as if she were sleeping. Her mother was currently reading a book to her, something she does on a daily basis, when the woman screamed as she opened her eyes.

Inside me, my soul materialized into a wolf shape as gray mists started to appear around my body. The peaceful room was suddenly filled with dark aura, a silent yet extremely dangerous power that could obliterate anything. The darkness, however, was not there to annihilate. Instead, it was used as a medium to summon a being. A few seconds later, the room reverted to normal as if nothing happened. I opened my mouth and said, "Amna."

“Doctor Brock, something is wrong with Alpha Wyatt. I need you in his office immediately.” As I turn my attention back to Wyatt, both the Supreme Elder and Doctor Brock chime, “Okay.” I quickly nudge Wyatt’s shoulder a little harder. “Alpha Wyatt wake up. Alpha, you need to wake up.” My breath hitches as his body suddenly goes limp. Shit. He is now unconscious. I quickly grab his shoulders and shake him harder than my previous nudges. “Alpha Wyatt! Don’t scare me like this! Wake up!”

The darkness beckons to me, trying to pull me in with seductive hands. The crushing weight on my chest is suddenly removed. The sound of growling fills the air, but I start sinking into a void, an empty nothingness where I just float. A familiar voice is calling my name but it seems so far away and I'm so, very tired. I don't want to come back. Then, the voice orders me, it's small and unnoticed but it grows more and more insistent, bringing me back to consciousness with each second that passes.

Something about all this felt so right, and I couldn’t help but feel like something within me had been awakened. Alpha Liam removed his canines and began to lick the spot where he had just marked me as his and then sealed it with a soft kiss. My body felt weak at that moment and exhausted from what had just transpired between the two of us, but it also felt foreign as I felt like a whole new person if that was even possible.

I’m cocooned in warmth, a soft, comforting haze surrounding me, cradling me as I drift between dreams and reality. Chapter Nineteen Halle Wilder ~•~ I was restless throughout the night, I couldn’t even get proper sleep because a part of me was scared. I watched Ivy as she slept peacefully. Maybe I was just being paranoid. Ivy was on my side. After what felt like an eternity, the sun finally came up. Ivy yawned loudly as she stretched her arms and legs out before opening her eyes. When she turned to look at me, she saw that I was wide awake.

Blood smeared Riven’s lip, his breath ragged. “No!” Seraphine’s scream echoed. The light from the crystal pulsed violently in response. Runes surged up her arms, her bloodline awakened fully. The chamber groaned. Power rippled through her. And something ancient opened its eyes.
