The music in the Red Velvet pulsed low, velvet and smoke curling in the air. Raven was heading toward the bar when she saw the front doors swing open with a subtle urgency. A VIP had arrived. She paused mid-step, slipping into the shadows by the velvet curtain, half-hidden. Riko, Luis, Milo, Ozzy, and Knox emerged from different corners of the club like pieces falling into place. Their suits were crisp, but their shoulders were stiff, their faces drawn tight. It was the way they moved—guarded, not cocky. Something was off.

[Lucien’s POV] Loud hip-hop music wafted through the air and everyone in the club cheered loudly, moving their bodies to the rhythm of the beat. Every Friday in Club Ravine was a blast. It was mainly a party for vampires, but witches, werewolves, elves and even fairies could also be found partying hard. Humans being present was a necessity, how else were we going to feed?

For a long time, neither of us spoke; the quiet felt comfortable and earned. Then, as footsteps approached across the porch, Axel appeared, holding a folder; his expression carried an unusual mix of disbelief and amusement. Ruin noticed immediately. “What now?” Axel handed him the folder. “You should read this.” Ruin opened it, and his eyes moved across the first page, then he looked up sharply. For the first time all evening, genuine surprise crossed his face. “What is it?” I asked. Axel folded his arms. “The regional council wants to name the club as an official community partner.”

Kim exclaimed. “OK that's great I can check for jobs so win win for me.” Raine replied. “My coworkers suggested 3 different clubs. There's not very many in the area so for choices we have Vibes, Cowgurl Up, or Rockers." Sam rolled her eyes. “Who in the world comes up with these names?” Kim asked. “Seriously!” Raine agreed. Friday night the girls got dressed up and headed out. They decided to try Vibes first. Vibes was fairly crowded with college kids and had a terrible live band.

The club was loud, dark, pulsing with bass and bodies. Raven had not been to a place like this in years. The music vibrated in her chest, the lights flashed in her eyes, and the crowd pressed against her from all sides. It was overwhelming. It was exactly what she needed. Sasha dragged her to the bar, ordered shots, and raised her glass.
