Chapter 171: Ashes and Goodbye ANYA’S POV I stood frozen in the doorway of the preparation chamber that morning. Damien lay on the raised stone platform, dressed in his ceremonial black robes trimmed with silver. His face looked peaceful, as if he might open his eyes any second and smile at me. The healers had cleaned the blood away and closed his wounds, but nothing could bring back the warmth I remembered in his skin. My legs buckled. Gavin caught me before I hit the floor.

Damian murmured softly, pecking Celine's cheek. "Good morning." Celine responded happily, smiling at him. Damian took a step towards her and pulled her into a hug. When he let go of her, he pulled the covers down to reveal the fact that her pajamas consisted of nothing more than a pair of white panties and a sports bra. Celine rolled her eyes and pushed Damian playfully. "You know exactly why I woke up like this, Damian Wayne." She said with a smirk. Damian chuckled and rolled his eyes dramatically. "Yes, dear wife. You always wear less clothes when I spend the night with you."

Damian waited. When Rowan emerged, he looked lighter still. His hair was damp, pushed back from his face. His skin was flushed from the warmth of the water. He was wearing Damian's shirt—too large for him, the sleeves hanging past his wrists, the hem falling to his thighs. Damian's trousers, cinched tight at the waist, the legs rolled up to keep from dragging. He looked comfortable. He looked like he belonged there. Damian's chest tightened. He didn't say anything.

Damian emerges from the trees. He wears the ceremonial white of a Silvermoon Alpha. His sleeveless vest is open at the chest, completely exposing his neck, throat, and broad shoulders. A silver sash is tied tight across his waist—our pack's colors. His dark hair is damp, combed back from his face. His eyes find mine across the water. I forget to breathe. He walks toward me. His steps are slow, deliberate, the bare soles of his feet making no sound on the stone. The small crowd watches in absolute silence.

“I see everyone as equal here, so I don’t need my power to rule over anyone.” Lucian grinned, looping his arms with Damon, who frowned instantly. “Get off me,” he said calmly, but Lucian shook his head. “We’re equals, so you don’t tell me what to do,” he added, and Damon shook his head. “I’m regretting my words now,” he said as he shook Lucian off him. “You’re cool,” Robin said suddenly, and I looked at him weirdly. “Me?” “Not you, dummy, I’m talking about Damon,” he said, and I frowned slightly. “I think you’re really cool,” he repeated, and Damon smiled gently.

DAMIEN I had noticed her the moment she was dragged into the throne room. Even in chains, the daughter of a criminal, Rosalia Muller commanded attention—not with the practiced grace of our court ladies, but with something far more intriguing. Her dark red hair caught the light filtering through the stained glass, creating a halo of crimson around her face. There was a wild beauty in her desperation, in the way she held herself despite everything crumbling around her.

That way, I would be able to see what was about to happen and capture the moment. From my observations, this was a costume and mask party. People came in and went out wearing real princess dresses for the women and tuxedos for the men while they had their eyes or entire faces masked. Damien must have set up this party to achieve his party like he used to. I couldn't blame him for doing this because I had caused almost all his benefactors to abandon him the last time. I wonder how he would take me if he were to see me right now.

She had wrapped herself in a long, white silk robe, tying the sash tightly around her waist. Damian was already out of bed. He was standing near the large windows, fully dressed in a crisp white dress shirt and dark suit trousers. He was buttoning his cuffs, the morning light catching the sharp, authoritative lines of his face. He looked like himself again, the ruthless CEO preparing to step back into his world.

I interrupted him that made him shocked. Robin is Damian's butler in the palace and acts as his assistant in his businesses as well as Leonard del Fuego. As far as I can remember, he is also the one who is beside Damian while trying his hardest to win me back. In short, he is a very helpful person of Damian. "Y-yes, Lady C-Cherrie." He seems to have difficulty in calling me with this name but, I also am aware in the difficulty to call my full first name.
