Reis thundered, waving his hands and allowing his Alpha pressure to send Rhodes crashing against the glass window. I managed to lift my eyes up to Reis. Carson’s intense stare bore into him, and for the first time, Reese saw something even more terrifying than anger in his captor’s eyes—calculated wrath. The silver ash erupted. From the shadows of the obsidian statues, the Real Shadow Alpha began to manifest. He didn't use beetles or smoke this time. He used the ash itself. A hundred-foot-tall titan of shimmering silver rose from the valley floor, its face a hollow void that pulsed with a gravitational pull so strong it began to drag the warriors off their feet. "THE MOTHER... HAS SPOKEN," the titan roared, the sound vibrating the very marrow of my bones. "Celine, now!" I shouted.

CRUNCH. A massive Titan-Class Droid stepped through the breach. It was twelve feet of reinforced steel and hydraulic rage, armed with a rotary cannon. "Target: The Hackers," The Titan’s synthesized voice boomed. "No!" Aurora threw a telekinetic shield up, but the Titan’s mass was too great. It smashed through her shield with a casual backhand, sending Aurora flying into a server rack. "Aurora!" Kael screamed. He charged the Titan, risking his life to jam his electrified baton into its knee joint.

It crawled. "Target... active..." it skipped. It was dragging itself toward me. I reached for my railgun. It was gone, lost in the fall. I reached for my sidearm. The holster was empty. I had my knife. An obsidian blade, six inches long. The Titan was ten feet away. It was leaking violet fluid that hissed where it touched the star-metal. "You... don't... quit," I murmured. "Mission... parameters... absolute," the Titan said.
