“Then why won’t you look at me?” Brendan stiffened for a moment but then melted into her touch, leaning against her palm. A softness lingered in his eyes as he scanned her face, “I don’t want to lie to you.” “Then don’t.” “Love…” He groaned, “Let’s just say, I come from a powerful bloodline.” Her brows furrowed, “An Alpha bloodline?” He shook his head. “Beta?” “It doesn’t matter,” he gripped her waist, “I’m a Rogue now, that’s all I’ll ever be.”

“Alpha Rex says they're going to fight rogues... Rogue are those bad wolves with red eyes, right? The ones that don’t seem to have much rationality?” “Yes, that’s right.” Mamie nodded, fiddling with a few towels she checked for holes before throwing them in the box she was giving for Daphne. “They are all wolves who were expelled from the pack and abandoned by the moon goddess. They have always been around and will attack any creature that comes near, but they’ve always acted alone...” She stopped and frowned, “I don't know why, but over the years they started to organize, getting bolder and bolder.”

She peeked a little and saw that the wolves were now in human forms, the wrappers around their waist barely hiding their schlongs from those that wished to view.

"I also came with a warning." The wind howled across the lake. The bond web tightened. "There's a pack beyond the northern wastes," Corvus said, and his voice dropped. "Older than all of us. They've been watching since Theron's execution. They don't just want to kill Moon-Wolves. They want to erase the bloodline entirely. Every trace. Every descendant. Every pup who carries even a fragment of the gene." He met my eyes. "They're coming. And they make me look merciful."

As he screams out, I drive the dagger into his chest and he falls to the ground. In general, rogues are weaker than wolves that belong to a pack. They don't have the strength that comes from the unity of being in a pack. Wolves are social creatures, and their wolves weaken significantly without that bond to an Alpha. Many rogues are on their own for years before they join other rogues, so they weaken a great deal. However, just because these rogues are weaker, they have the upper hand right now. With just four more to go, I can feel my body becoming sluggish. All my energy sources have been depleted in the last five weeks and I'm just running on pure adrenaline at this point.
