They were the ones that I had heard to move around like gypsies, never settling in one spot but continuously on the move. Always conquering territory that they would never come back to again. They ambushed peaceful Packs and annihilated them straight from the stems. The Kynemen Alpha meets eyes with me, and I see him lick the corner of his lips. Several blades line a cloth strip around his waist. An amused, catlike smile paints his mouth.

“The executioners wield silver-tipped claws, rendering an absolute victory mathematically impossible for your lone form.” My muscles tightened as Trevor Lane scrambled frantically behind my frame, completely pinning my arms and blocking any explosive counter-attack. The rogue pack-warriors systematically closed the perimeter, their fangs bared to drain our lifeforce. Trapped against the stone architecture, my fingers locked onto the collar of his traveling pelt, violently wrenching his mass toward the reinforced glass of the master overlook.

I put what I am doing to the side and gestured for him to take a seat. "Owen, I need to talk to you about something. I do not want you to take offense, but it's about rogues." I nod. Rogues often give packs trouble; somehow, I am an exception. Probably because I attempt to communicate with the wolf packs and live on neutral territory, it probably also helps that they come to my club. "I am not sure what help I can be," I don't associate with many wolves, other than those who work or are members of the club.

The one who I knew instantly to be the beta was similar to the Alpha, with scars and muscles that littered his body, though he had short Sandy blonde hair with green eyes. The others littered around were much of the same, men of all shapes and sizes, each one different from the last. I had never seen a man before, the only person I had ever known was my mother, and she was far from as muscular or large as those who stood waiting for me to show myself, perhaps so they could kill me. Pack wolves were not known to be merciful towards rogues, not even rogues were merciful to she-wolfs that didn’t belong to a pack, they saw us as vulnerable and easy targets for the taking. Or so mother told me.

To humans, they were known as rogue mafias, one of the deadliest underground movements in the United States, and they specialized in the sale of weapons and arms.

Her instincts screamed, feet backing away slowly, breath catching in her throat. One lunged. She screamed—and then suddenly— A blur of black fur crashed into the attacker mid-air. A massive black wolf with silver eyes, twice the size of the others, snarled with a guttural sound that shook the air. From the distance, golden eyes watched from the rooftop. The rogue Alpha. His fists were clenched. His chest rose and fell in frustration. He was going to save her. But he was too late. That bastard beat him to it.

"The blade was cheap." "Everything we have is cheap because we are rogues." I pointed to the map. "The Moonshine Pack is close. Their weapons storage is here, on the eastern edge of their territory. Light guard. Easy in and out." "The Moonshine Pack?" Nessa raised her eyebrows. "Lila, that pack is responsible for royal security. They are not some small border pack we can push around." "I know what they are. But we are not fighting them. We are sneaking in, grabbing what we need, and leaving. Simple."

"I'll spend the rest of my life repaying that debt. Don't ask me to stop." Rook lounged against the wall near the door with his permanent smirk back in place. He was officially a pack member now, a status he claimed to find deeply embarrassing. "I'm a rogue," Rook had said when Kellan signed the papers. "You can't just file me into respectability." But he hadn't left. And he hadn't stopped calling Bastian "Big Bast" at every opportunity.

“Why don’t you stay with me, eh? I can get you into the pack, at least temporarily, until you get back on your feet. They don’t like rogues, but I can speak with the alpha.” “What’s a rogue?” I asked. “It’s a werewolf without a pack. They smell differently, almost unpleasant. I think they smell that way to warn packed werewolves away from them. Most rogues live in their wolf forms and become more and more feral and savage the longer they stay in that form, so they can be dangerous and unpredictable if you come across them.” “Do I smell like that?” I asked, sitting up and studying him. “Yes, but I’ve gotten used to your smell now. I almost don’t even notice it anymore.”

I asked as we settled in and started eating. “Good! Informative actually. Did you know there is a pack down south made entirely of rogues? It’s run by a ‘rogue alpha’. He managed to gain their trust and loyalty somehow. A few of the packs down the coast have considered asking him to come and gather the rogues in their area to prevent more attacks. It’s getting bad down there", she said sadly. “Interesting…A rogue alpha. So, what did you propose the packs do?”
